John T. Bjork

November 25, 1947 — July 28, 2024

John T. Bjork, late of Hegewisch, passed away on July 28, 2024. He was born on November 25, 1947. John's life was filled with love, and cherished moments will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

John leaves behind a legacy cherished by those closest to him. He is survived by his loving daughters Corinna (Jesse) Esquivel and Reina (Ray) Slocomb. John was a proud grandfather to Priscilla Aguilera, Roberto Aguilera, and Martha Aguilera. He was also a caring brother to Martin Bjork, Marianne Powell, and Lynn Bjork. Additionally, he was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. John adored spending time with his pets Jacqueline "Shaq Shaq" and Charlie Daniel "Char Char.” Their companionship brought him immeasurable joy and comfort throughout the years.

In love and in loss, John stood tall. He was the beloved husband of the late Lupe Bjork and the late Lorraine M. Bjork. His heart was a beacon of love that shone brightest within his family circle. Preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Catherine Bjork, he now rests peacefully in their eternal embrace.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. as a Sergeant, demonstrating his bravery and commitment to his nation. His military service was a testament to his sense of duty and honor. Outside of his military service, John had a passion for sports, particularly hockey, baseball, and basketball. He was a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm. 

John T. Bjork will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His kindness, strength, and loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
