Tomas was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. When he was a teenager, he moved to Tijuana, then to Los Angeles, California. He worked as a professional butcher and other professions for years until he retired. He loved visiting his daughters, son, and grandchildren. He was a great uncle to all his nephews and nieces. He loved visiting them and had a special bond with them. In 2016, he moved to the Chicago area and loved to travel to California. He was a free-spirited person, adventurous, and always wanted the best for all his children and family. He had a strong character and was set in his ways but was kind and was always willing to help everyone. In his younger years, he did not mind driving long distances to help anyone in need. He was daring and was never afraid to take on life’s challenges.

He touched many people's lives, especially his niece Linda, who he loved as a daughter. He was very affectionate to all his nephews and nieces. His loving hugs will be missed, he always said, “Hola Chica(o),” and smiled. He had that special personality that when he entered a room everyone noticed him. He was charismatic and had a special sense of humor that made you smile. He was an animal lover and protected all insects. He cared deeply for the birds, cats, and dogs.

Tomas was a strong person. He was determined and had the courage to stop the cancer treatments. He was ready to go on his own terms. He said in Spanish, “Estoy listo, montado y armado,” “Vamonos Recio,” which meant, “I am ready to go.”  He never gave up, he tried to make the best of every moment in life, nothing stopped him from doing what he wanted to do. His adventurous and free-spirited heart will live forever in all the Cabral family. He will be missed by his beloved family and by his “Muchachito,” Drizco. (Loving pet). He will be remembered dearly.
