About Us

In September 1919, Claude and Grace Griesel opened the Claude E. Griesel Mortuary to provide a service to the community based on professionalism and dignity. After Claude’s death in 1939, Grace attended mortuary school and continued the business with kindness and understanding for many years. Following Grace’s death in 1961, James Mack, Claude and Grace’s great-nephew, assumed directorship until 2003.

With over 60 years of professional experience as licensed funeral directors and embalmers, collectively, Leo Stodden and Rosario Jimenez Stodden purchased Griesel Mortuary in September 2003 under the name of Griesel Jimenez Stodden Funeral Home. Their principle focus was to preserve the tradition of a family owned establishment and, in keeping with Griesel’s legacy, to provide the highest level of service to the community with compassion, kindness and understanding. Having the opportunity to appreciate their parent’s dedication and contribution to the community, Felicia and Alicia Jimenez Stodden, Leo and Rosario’s daughters, also became licensed funeral directors and embalmers in 2005 and 2012, respectively.

The Stodden family recognize their client families experience one of the most strenuous moments in their lives, and they are devoted to not only providing the necessary support needed but to bring comfort and an understanding during those difficult times. It is an honor to celebrate over 100 years of funeral service to the public, and the Stodden family look forward to dedicating many years in offering their services with reverence, compassion and respect.

Online Memorial

We can create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.

Tribute Video

We can produce a personal tribute video that can be played at the service and online. Simply provide us with the photographs you want to include and we will transform them into a video celebration of your treasured memories. DVDs or digital files of the video are also available.

Ordering Flowers

We make it easy for friends and family to send flowers to your home or service to honor your loved one. We have partnered with local florists to offer the convenience of ordering directly from the obituary page of our website. You can also use this feature to select the flowers you would like at the service. This is a secure way to choose beautiful arrangements from the privacy and comfort of your home.

Sharing Service Details

We reduce the stress of contacting those who need the details of the service for your loved one. We post the dates and times of the service as part of the online memorial on our website. You can then either share the memorial on your Facebook or Twitter page or copy the details from the site into an email or text. Both options give you the peace of mind that you have provided the necessary information to those who need it.
